The top of my video card
get quite warm, as does the chip-set. This card will cool both
with a thin 60mm fan.
|
|

I started over on the board. |
Parts:
-
bread-board
- ripped slot bracket from an old PCI video card
- 40, 60 mm or 80 mm fan
- As much shit as you can hang on it
to make it look cool.
|
|

|
I've changed the breadboard to a smaller piece and
have only one 60mm fan for this time.
I
needed some practice with the hole saw. The drill press and hole
saw are some of the best investments I've made.
- hold your parts in a vise and back
it up under cutting tool.

Here are the parts:
-
60mm fan.
-
This perfboard
from Radio Shack.
-
An old slot
bracket from some old card like a modem, network card or an old video
card. Mine came from an old PCI video card.
-
Old ISA Port
cards usually have two nice attachment points, sometimes with screws.
-
Some of this, they sell in bulk on
ebay.
-
wire,
connectors and whatever.
-
I use these
connectors from radio shack.
-
to connect to
Molex or your fan controller.
|

Super-glue held the fan in position, until I could drill the four holes
for the screws.
I run the drill press though the top of the fan so there is no need to
locate the holes. |

I've wrapped the fan in stainless steel shim
stock.
This was a very simple and fast mod. The
acrylic version will
happen later, when I get time. |

This is more like it's true color as the flash burned the first two and I
had to remove some gamma from the photos. |

This will plug into a project box I have already had in the bottom of my
tower. This is pre-wired to a standard 6-port, dual voltage switch
bay. |
|
I have another one done.
80mm fan with a clear acrylic body.
