Chris's Pimp-Rig
The Tower
New
tower?
I've painted it's
interior so a UV light would really shine.
So far, I've discovered flat white DOES NOT WORK
for UV.
I always try to test things before I go too
far.
The Black Tower
It failed the UV test, so we are going black. This
does not mean we wont find something reflective to paint or apply on
it's interior.
The Blowhole
120 MM Blowhole is cut, ready for
de-burring and painting. Fan is an Enermax adjustable. |
The Front
I masked off every single LED.
Scotch tape worked GREAT. |
Case badge finished and installed
So far, it looks like a pimp-rig Mo Fo. |
Tower sides painted

Cutting a window too big will make the side loose it's
structural integrity. |
Chrome Trim |
Chrome trim really makes a window look
good. Get that trim from crazypc.
We are going with one UV type 80 mm fan for a side
blowhole.
Filters & junk |
Chrome 120mm fan filter for
the top, black 80mm fan filter for the side window fan.
Rest of the junk is goes in mine.
120mm
Top Mounted
Blowhole |
There was not enough room
inside the case for this big fan, but there was enough room outside.
Later, I will wrap this in stainless steel shim-stock.
Ventral 80mm Blowhole |
Blowhole is bored with a
hole-saw, then the filter was used as a template for the 4 mounting
holes.
Ventral 80mm Blowhole |
The filter and fan have been
installed.
All holes were reamed out to allow the
screws free passage to the fans holes. This was done to keep from
cracking the plastic, so close to the main hole.
More |
I painted the CD-ROM Black,
and waiting for it to dry. I have a bay cooler that holds 2-80mm fans.
This was painted red and modded to fit with the 4-port bay
controller.

Progress |
01/18/2003
This shit takes a lot more time than you think.
Card-Chip
Cooler |
I inverted a slot cooler to
cool the top of the video card. Next comes a thin 60mm fan to cool
the chip. I've done everything I can to stealth wires, going the
long way around to conceal nasty wires. Where ever possible, I
wrap it with black heat shrink.
Stainless Steel Tape |
Stainless Steel Adhesive tape.
Sold in most auto parts stores. The adhesive is not really too strong so
I used super-glue gel.
Power Supply |
I had the power supply treated
in Black Teflon. This stuff will not scratch when it's slid it into
position. I'm stealthing the wires with black looms
Teflon
treatment by BGR
Teflon is baked on and is Tough as
Nails.

Progress |
It's almost assembled
Finished |
It's about DONE.
Better View |
Better view of the top blow
hole.
